Basehor-Linwood is currently seeking a District Office Communications Coordinator to begin immediately.

 

 

Title:  Communications Coordinator

 

Reports to:  Superintendent of School

 

Position Summary:   Facilitates communication with district’s internal and external public in order to generate a climate of understanding of the district’s efforts to provide each student with the best possible education in a complex multi-cultural society

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Baccalaureate degree preferred; English, Journalism, Communications background preferred
  2. Excellent skills in grammar, writing, desktop publishing, communications and interpersonal skills
  3. Excellent skill in using design programs such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, and Photoshop
  4. Excellent skills in website organization and social media
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of methods of effective communication
  6. Desire and ability to work with students and staff
  7. A willingness to cooperate with and follow the directions of the district Superintendent
  8. The ability and willingness to communicate with parents
  9. Ability to plan, organize, and see that activities are completed
  10. Proficient in data collection and reporting
  11. Excellent written and oral skills
  12. Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications     

 

Essential Functions:

Provide means for clear communications with patrons, staff and students by coordinating preparation of district communication information, including brochures, external, internal and eNewsletters and other publications, developing news releases, creating Board Briefs, taking pictures of district events and keeping the Superintendent informed of all related activities. 

    

Manages district’s digital presence including district website, district Facebook page, Instagram, Superintendent’s Messages, and community events.



Education Foundation liaison

 

Maintains open lines of communication with community organizations

 

General Responsibilities:

  1. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal & telephone skills
  2. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to gather information to produce excellent school district publications
  3. Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to use office, classroom, media equipment, and word processing
  4. Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  5. Works effectively with community organizations.
  6. Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.
  7. Supports the value of education.
  8. Supports the mission and vision of USD #458.
  9. Keeps abreast of new information, best practices, innovative ideas, and techniques.
  10. Adheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools/Assistant Superintendent



Physical Requirements:  Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in the work environment. Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job is required.

 

  1. Must have physical stamina to maintain job responsibilities.
    2. Requires occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and turning.

Term of Employment: 12 months 



Evaluation:  Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy.
