POSITION: Occupational Therapist
QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must possess:
- An occupational therapy license from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts
- A valid Kansas driver’s license
- Experience providing occupational therapy with an emphasis on developmental disabilities
- Experience working collaboratively with teams and families.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in a school setting
REPORTS TO: TBLSEC Special Education Administrators and USD 458 & USD 464 Building Principals
JOB SUMMARY:
The Occupational Therapist will provide occupational therapy to individuals and groups of students with exceptionalities in the educational setting per the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers occupational therapy assessments to determine a student’s level of functioning relative to their age and educational placement in such areas as fine/gross motor skill development, sensory-motor integration, self-care, and the activities of daily living.
- Writes assessment reports identifying the student’s needs.
- Writes proposed goals and objectives as part of the IEP based on the educational goals to improve the student’s functional abilities within the school and naturalistic settings.
- Maintains progress data.
- Participates in the IEP meeting.
- Collaborates with other providers.
- Provides students with individual and group therapy sessions.
- Adapts equipment to assure proper positioning and to enhance functional performance of the student.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in the work environment. Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job is required.

Term of Employment: 10 months (188 Days); Academic school year as assigned.
