Position Summary: The science teacher creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students through rich learning experiences, exploratory learning covering a range of general science.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in General Science
- Currently hold or be eligible for a Kansas certificate in respective content area
- Demonstrated knowledge of methods of effective instruction
- Desire and ability to work with students and staff
- A willingness to cooperate with and follow the directions of the school principal
- The ability and willingness to communicate with parents
- Ability to plan, organize, and see that activities are completed
- Proficient in data collection and reporting
- Excellent written and oral skills
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
- Valid Teaching Certificate with applicable level area endorsements.
- 5+ years of directly related verifiable experience in science or a related field.

- Ability to model commitment and dedication to work.
- Ability to work independently and without supervision, and complete work in an efficient manner.
General Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment for learning.
- Communicates with parents and counselors on a student's progress.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities related to science.
- Ensures that all activities conform to district guidelines.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community.
- Works effectively with community organizations.
- Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.
- Supports the value of education.
- Supports the mission and vision of USD #458.
- Keeps abreast of new information, best practices, innovative ideas, and techniques.
- Adheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal, or other Administrative Staff.
Physical Requirements: Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in the work environment. Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job is required.
- Must have physical stamina to maintain job responsibilities.
- Requires occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and turning.

Term of Employment: 10 months (187 Days); Academic school year as assigned.
